Timeline

Spring '25

Alpha Theta Delta is the world’s first professional design fraternity, founded on May 6th, 2018, at the University of Washington. Focused on utilizing creativity to solve contemporary design challenges, ATD pushes the limits of what is technologically and conceptually possible in the field of design.

Every Fall and Spring, ATD hosts a recruitment cycle, inviting prospective members to learn about our design community and meet current brothers.

Process

01 Brainstorm

After exploring a number of themes, we settled on a recruitment theme of grocery stores. To fuel our creativity, we collected a collection of inspirational graphics and elements that fit our vision of what we wanted our promotional materials to look.

Our theme aimed to showcase the diversity of Alpha Theta Delta’s community, similar to how grocery stores offer a diverse range of products.

02 Design & Iteration

Over a course of two months, my team and I engaged in a cycle of designing and iterating on posters, flyers, social media content, and slide decks while communicating with the fraternity executive board to coordinate promotional efforts.

03 Deliverables & Promotion

Our final deliverables consisted of print media such as posters and flyers, social media graphics, and informational slide decks designed to engage prospective members across multiple mediums.

We worked to increase awareness of recruitment events by tabling in central campus areas, hanging up posters in high foot traffic buildings, and engaging with students through social media takeovers.

Reflection

This recruitment round was one of the largest in ATD history!

Serving as a recruitment director allowed me to work closely with other ATD brothers in a professional capacity. I sharpened my collaborative skills while learning from the design skills of students of other design disciplines. Facilitating recruitment activities allowed me to meet numerous other design enthusiasts, and I'm excited to stay involved with ATD's vibrant community!
